Blog Post #3

Hello! Welcome to our third blog post. This was the 14th week of school, and also the week of our art exhibition. Keep reading to find out what we did this week.

On Monday in Humanities, we started our day off with Affirmations and Apologies. We celebrated each other, and we also apologized for the not so good things we did the past week. We also worked on our POL.

In Art, we got assigned new jobs for our exhibition, that at the time, would be taking place in three days. Also, people that didn't finish their quilt squares by the due date last Friday were finishing them up today.

In Math and Science, we worked with the circumference, in addition to the radius, and diameter of circles. After this, we continued to work on our POL.

On Tuesday in Humanities, we carried on working with our POL. Afterward, we evaluated a prompt. It was: "Write a four-person spoken word poem inspired by your book club book." We highlighted action words, and we italicized words or phrases that were important. At the very end of the class (For CCKM), 9th graders came into our classroom with Mr. Mac and shared the poems that they wrote in 7th grade. All of which, were very beautiful.

In Art, we got together with our exhibition groups to decide what your group needs, and what it is we're going to do at our exhibition. We filled all of this out on a piece of paper.

In Math and Science, we got our income sheets. So we spent the first part of our class filling those out.

Then, we paid our rent. After all of the work having to deal with money, we worked on our POL.

On Wednesday in Humanities, we worked for a bit of time on our article annotations, which were due that day. Then, we watched a video of an author named Tomi Adeyemi on the Tonight Show. She is coming to our school next Wednesday! After finishing the video, we all wrote down questions we wanted to ask her. They could vary from questions about the book, being a writer, or just random questions like, "How was your day?"

In Art, we filled out a question sheet about our quilt squares. Fabric, and paper. It was a small sheet, but since it was a half-day, we didn't have much time either way.

In Math and Science, we continued working on the circumference of circles. Then, for the CCKM class, there was an option to stay after school to finish our student task.

Today, on Wednesday, it was a half-day! So we got out of school at 12:00.

On Thursday in Humanities we worked on our first draft of our poems for book club. You had the option to choose whether you wanted to do a writing map, or you could just write.

In Art, the whole team spent the morning helping set up for our exhibition. Which would be taking place later that night.

In Math and Science, we worked with compasses to draw circles. No, not direction compasses, but compasses meant for drawing.

During 5th period, we opened up the wall to have team time. Since we didn't have X-Block that day, we played bingo. Some others had to help set up for exhibition depending on what group you were in.

Then, from 5:00-7:00, we had our art exhibition! Technically, our team was only exhibiting from 5:00-6:00, but we were required to stay until 7:00. Also, it was raining cats and dogs! Which made it hard for people to get there on time.

On Friday in Humanities, Class B had kinder buddies, while Class A had to work on their next reader response journal. With Class B, you just read with your buddy. For our Socratic Seminar topics, we had Gun Violence for Class A, and Border Tensions for Class B. Excellent choices, I think.

In Art, we did a reflection on how we think our exhibition went. Which didn't take much of our time, so after we were done we had to help Mrs. Gabrielle with various tasks.

In Math and Science, we spent our time working with our Quest for Space groups to do the next part of our experiments. Writers had to check their inboxes to see if they got accepted by Q4S. If you did, that's great!

Also, happy Friday to all!

Thank you for reading this summary, I hope I can see you next time.
